Morphology

Symmetry and Form

Monad, radial_symmetry, isopolar, elliptic ( E > P ) in equatorial_view, (sub)triangular (angulaperturate) in polar_view

Dimensions

Polar_Axis = 19-25 µm; Equatorial_Axis = 24-29 µm

Apertures

Three colpora, Colpus: elliptic, colpus apex acute, distance between the adjacent colpal apices ±11.0-14.0 µm, margo undifferentiated, aperture_membrane psilate, costae_colpi present; Os: elliptic with curved lateral ends, lolongate, oral_costae thin

Exine

Scabrate or Granulo-rugulate, (in SEM: micro-rugules and micro-spinules are discernible); tectate, infratectum columellate, exine at the mid-point of the intercolpium ±2.0 µm

Remark

A stenopalynous genus but it can be divided into 7 subtypes on minor differences in shape, aperture and exine pattern (Muller, J. 1971)

Tentative Pollen Typification

Dimocarpus longan subtype
