Morphology

Symmetry and Form

Monad, spherical symmetry, apolar, polyperiporate; spherical_to_spheroidal in different views

Dimensions

Diameter = 130-170 µm

Apertures

Polyperiporate (numerous pores); Porus: circular, diameter ±4-6 µm, annulus absent, poral_costae absent

Exine

Echinate or Spiny, peg-shaped spines with rounded apex, broad at base, spines 13 x 23 µm, interspinal exine surface apparently microperforate, interporal and interporal supratectal micro-processes present, exine thickness: infra-spinal 12-13 µm; between spines 7.0 µm

Remark

A stenopalynous genus. Pores are in spiral arrangement or at the apices of contiguous equilateral triangles (Van Campo, M. 1976)

Tentative Pollen Typification

Hibiscaceae subtype
