Polar_Axis = 39-55 µm; Equatorial_Axis = 34-48 µm

Three colpora; Colpus: elliptic, colpus apex acute, distance between the adjacent colpal apices ±8.0 µm; margo undifferentiated, aperture_membrane granular, costae_colpi absent(?); Os: ellipsoidae or rectanguliform with curved or truncate(?) lateral ends and lalongate, oral_costae present

Exine

Tectate, striate (thumb-impression like), mur ±0.5 µm; exine thickness at the mid-point of the intercolpium <2.0 µm

A large shrub or small tree common in lower storey especially in ravines. Often introduced in gardens. Leaf illustration: Pascal, J-P. & Ramesh, B.R. (1987), fig. 350. Generic description and specific (M. exotica Linn.) key in Flora of Madras: pp.110 & 111 (Gamble, J.S., 1967)

Distribution of Species

Western Peninsular India, Sri Lanka, Burma, China, Australia and Pacific Islands; Western Ghats: Konkan, Kanara, and all hilly districts southwards

Distribution of Genus
