Symmetry and Form
Monad, radial_symmetry, 3-colporate, elliptic in equatorial_view, (sub)circular to sublobed in polar_view
Dimensions
Polar_Axis = 38-42 µm; Equatorial_Axis = 24-32 µm
Apertures
Three colpora; Colpus: elliptic, colpus apex acute, aperture_membrane psilate, distance between the adjacent colpal apices ±9.0 µm), margo undifferentiated, costae_colpi present; Os: broadly elliptic, lolongate, oral_costae thin
Exine
Striato-reticulate, tectate, infratectum columellate, exine thickness µm; at the mid-point of the intercolpium and at poles ±3.0 µm
Remark
A eurypalynous genus characterised by differences in pollen characters [see Erdtman, G. (1952)]; The pollen of P. fasciculatum Hook. f. with reticulate exine is different from the other indigenous (New Zealand) species of Pittosporum [Moar, N.T. (1994)]
Tentative Pollen Typification
Pittosporum type X
