The manuscripts were collected by Mohana Raj's grandfather and father (deceased) and by Mohana Raj, all traditional siddha practitioners and presidents of the association ATSVS. They got them from the Siddha practitioners of the Kanniyakumari district. Mohana Raj's grandfather paid copyists to write manuscripts borrowed from his peers.
