Manuscripts from Teni District (TE) [S.P. Anandan Collection]

The series TE of the collection of Anandan consists in 19 manuscripts.The manuscripts are composed of palm leaves written with a stylus on the two sides. The subjects approached these manuscripts are very various. Some of them are not specific to the siddha knowledge : written in Tamil, Gratha, or Telugu, they concern Vaisnavism and Vaisnava code of conducts and rituals (MSS1, MSS2,MSS4, MSS6), the Ramayana (MSS3), brahminical rituals (MSS5, MSS6) or rules of building a house (MSS13). The other manuscripts deal with medical subjects such as nosography, medicinal preparations, aetiology, magic, etc. The manuscript MSS18, composed of 9 parts comprising 1 to 5 texts, approach multiple subjects related to siddha knowledge; magic, esotericism, medicine, toxicology, etc.
