The opening page reads: " SIDDHAANTA "SEKHARA " The manuscript Siddhāntaśekhara belongs to the late, Sri. Jñānaskanda Gurukkal of Perungalur in Pudukkottah State. This is in a note-book form of half foolscap size, containing 282 pages, with an average of twenty-eight lines per page. The script employed is grantha and the handwriting, though normal, is hasty and misleading in many places. The transcript copy covers 888 pages, with twelve lines per page and contains a total of 5018 slokas in all. This work called Siddhāntaśekhara was composed by one Viśvanatha, son of "Srīkṛṣṇa of Harita Gotra. The work is divided into three kāṇḍas, viz., Nityakāṇḍa, Naimittikakāṇḍa and Kāmyakāṇḍa, with four, twelve and ten paricchedas in them respectively. It comprises almost all matters pertaining to the Saivite temple cult, as Construction, installation, renovation, worship and the like. The author is a versatile one and his language is easy and flowing. On the whole the work presents itself as a best one in the line, not-withstanding the language has suffered at the hands of good-for-nothing copyists. P. Neelakanta Sarma 24/07/1962 "
