This text deals with the procedure for worshipping Bālā that is to say Devi, known also as ¨syāmā, Vārāhī, parāmbā and Nīlasarasvatī. Before undertaking the act of woship, it is shown tha omens or indications in favour of or otherwise are to be obeserved. Initiation is also a part of the preparatory rites for this worship. According to the colophon on fol.19b, this procedure is laid down in the bhairavayāmala
