Śivastotra

At the beginning of this text, iti is said that this is ch. 24 in part IIof the vāyavīyasaṃhitā of the śivapurāṇa. This agrees well with the printed edn. of the śivapurāṇavayavīyasaṃhitā with commentary in mahārāṣṭrī-uttarabhāga-ch. 24 Solapur 1905 and śivamahāpurāṇa-vāyavīyasaṃhitā-uttarabhāga-ch.31-paṇḍitapustakālaya, kā'si 1964. The colophon in this text mentions that this text forms ch. 74 in section II of śaṃkaravilāsa which is part of śivakathāmṛtasārasaġraha of vidyāraṇyayati, pupil of śaṃkarāraṇya. It is clear that the text under notice contains the śivastuti taken from the śivapurāṇa and included in the śaṃkaravilāsa, a collection of stories onśiv compiled by vidyāraṇya, pupil of śaṃkarāraṇya. Fols. 59a-62b contain some verses about ātmārthājana, types of śaiva-s and verses in praise of dūrgā, gaṇeśa, śiva and some verses from śivānandalaharī
