Miscellaneous Notes

This text is a manual on the procedure of daily worship at the temple. Its author, abhiṣekasundaranātha, alias saundaranāthapaṇḍita, son of akhilāṇḍapaṇḍitācārya sates at the beginning that he is compiling the manual after consulting the kāmika, the kāraṇa and other āgama-s at the request of many eminent ādiśaiva-s at Madurai.The author initially enumerates 36 items constituting the daily worship and briefly explains them in what follows. Fol. 1a contains the first few lines of the akhilāṇḍācāryapaddhati; fol. 22b, a verse in praise of kṣetrapāla; fol. [64b], dhūpamantra; fol. [66b], alist of ingredients for aṣṭabandhana in Tamil; fol. [72b], words like "hariḥ oṃ"; fol. [73a], a few lines on japalakṣaṇa; fol. [77], measurements of liṅga; fol. [78], some lines speaking about offering twenty-five rice-balls to deities like pārvatī at dhvajadaṇḍapīṭha(in dhvajārohaṇa ?); fol. [86a]-[87b], some miscellaneous verses in Telugu; fol. 88a, a verse defining the ādiśaivācārya; fol. [89a], a verse in Tamil speaking about the greatness of worshipping a liṅga with bilva leaves(in the holy place of Tricy); fol. [91a-92b], matters regarding graha and rāśi in Tamil; fol. [93] a few lines in Tamil on aṅgulalakṣaṇa; fol. [94a], the method of selecting a twig for brushing teeth described in Tamil; fol. [95a], a statement in Tamil as to the occupying a newly constructed house when the vāstupuruṣa is well disposed; fol. [98], a further statement in Tamil about twigs for brushing teeth; fol. [99], some statements in Tamil about utsava and pratiṣṭhā; fol. [100a]has a reference to the five types of the idols like dhruvabera
