Scope and content: This volume contains notification nos. 1 to 424. Some of the topics covered are: reorganization of the Directorate of Interior in the colonies; table giving details of recipients of the official periodicals published in the colony; several decisions relating to education (opening of schools, curricula, examinations, scholarships etc.); celebration of the centenary of the French Republic; modifications in the code of commerce; order fixing the composition of the management committees of temples and the mode of electing the managers; creation of commercial museums in colonies for permanently displaying French products; several decisions of the Council of Administrative Litigation; elections to memberships of various councils; interpretation of the Indo-French declaration of 1889 regarding settlements for shipwreck passengers; decisions on matters of budget and accounts, on postal services etc.; decisions on taxes and levies approved by the General Council including the tariffs of all the local taxes for the year 1893 etc.
Extent and Format of Original Material
1 volume containing 12 issues and indices; 476 pages & 2 foldouts containing tables. Dimensions: 21 X 14 cm
Issues within the volume are arranged chronologically and by issue number. They were published every month. A table of contents is provided at the beginning of every issue. The volume contains chronological, subject and name indices. The Chronological Index lists all the orders chronologically and gives their dates and page numbers. The Subject index is an alphabetical list of subject terms and gives the orders that pertain to that subject along with their dates and page numbers. The Name Index includes the names of people that figure in the list of nominations, promotions, transfers etc. It is arranged alphabetically and gives the page number where the names are mentioned. The three indices are bound at the end of the volume.
