This text describes the method, which is adopted in performing āyuṣyahoma, which protects life of man from danger. According to the colophon this is said to have been enjoined by śaunaka. But there is the expression "kārikāratnāyuṣyahomavidhiḥ" on the margin and at the beginning of the text

atha kārikāratnāyuṣyahomavidhiḥ। triguṇīkṛtapūrvābhiraktābhiḥ payasā saha। dodhmā ca madhunā caiva juhuyāt[।]
