Miscellaneous Notes
This text contains 103 Tamil songs which are sung in unison with music and dance. This dance is called kummi which is of 2 kinds: Vālaikkumi and ñānakkummi. The former is indulged by girls (bālā, vālai). The latter concerns itself with the aspect of knowledge of truth and world. Songs under both these heads are varied and the songs in the text under notice, which belong to the second kind, are different from those in the printed edn. Vide:- periya ñāṉakkoovai - B. Ratna Nayakar and Sons, Madras
