Miscellaneous Notes
This text contains 12 verses in praise of śiva. From the account given in the 11th and 12th verses, the author may be taken Haradatta, who born in a vaiṣṇava family, established the superiority of śiva over all other gods. According to the Descriptive Catalogue of Tamil Manuscripts in Dr. U.V.Swamināthaiyar Library, Vol.II, pp. 30-31, Haradatta is also known as kañcanūr āḻvār. Probably these verses are composed by him and hence the name of the text. Some verses are found in daśaślokīstuti. (Vide: Complete Works of Saṃkarācārya, Vol.I. pp.92-94, Samata Books, Madras 1981
