This stotra, in praise of goddess durgā, is recited by arjuna before the commencement of the bhārata war. The model of this stotra seems to be the ādityahṛdaya found in canto 105 yuddhakāṇḍa of vālmīkirāmāyaṇa (NS. edn.) This stotra occurs in the 23rd adhyāya, bhīṣmaparvan of mahābhārata, chitraśala Press

sañjaya uvāca : dhārtrāṣṭrabalandṛṣṭvā yuddhāya samupasthitam। arjunasya hitārthāya kṛṣṇo vacanamabravīt। bhagavānuvāca: śucirbhūtvā mahābāho saṃgrāmābhimukhe sthita(ḥ)। parājayāya 'satrūṇāndurgāstotramudīraya। sañjaya uvāca: evamukto'rjunassaṃkhe (khye) vāsudevena dhīmatā avtīrya rathātpārtha(s)stotramāha kṛtāñjaliḥ।
