This text deals with devatāvāhana which forms part of the celebration of mahotsava. It consists in inviting various deities to be present and participate in the conduct of the festival. The form of this text generally is cūrṇikā, a form of gady with or without some śloka-s at the beginning and end. The festival is conducted in a particular temple where śiva is the chief god in whose honour it is conducted. Though this invitation to gods is a common feature in the celebration of the festivals of śiva, it has slight variations for each chief deity in the various temples. In the margin the heading "aruṇācalapaddhati" indicates that this digest relating to the main temple at tiruvaṇṇāmalai deals also with the rituals relating to other temples around it, namely the 8 temples forming vīraṭṭāna , which are at tirukkaṇṭiyūr, tirukkoovalūr, tiruvatikai, tiruppariyalūr, tiruvirkuṭi, valuvūr, tirukkurkkai and tirukkaṭavūr, and bhāskarakṣetra which is a common name for any shrine of śiva. 5-14 and 16 cūrṇikā-s are found in IFI.T.707 having the total number 34 for śloka-s and cūrṇikā-s and 1, 2, 5-12, 14-17 are found in IFI.T.744 having 17 curṇikā-s
